KKE invests in the U.S. company, RemoteLock

Kozo Keikaku Engineering, Inc. (Head Office : Nakano-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN, Chairman : Shota Hattori, “KKE” hereafter) announced today that they have invested an additional 4 million U.S. dollars in RemoteLock (Head Office : Denver, Colorado, USA, CEO : Nolan Mondrow) as part of RemoteLock’s $5.6 million Series B funding.

RemoteLock is a platform that provides an access control system compatible with a wide range of smart lock products and wired access devices, including leading brands in the United States. Users can centrally manage every door, from internal property doors to shared doors like main entrances, elevators, and garages, through a single dashboard on the cloud. Additionally, through collaboration with numerous software partners, our access control system allows for advanced automated entrance management. Widely utilized in various settings such as apartments, hotels, vacation rental facilities, and commercial establishments, this solution offers exceptional convenience and cost-effectiveness.

KKE has been an investor in RemoteLock (* formerly LockState) since 2008 and has been the company's sole distributor in Japan since January 2017. KKE is providing services in areas where there is significant room for IT utilization in access management, such as accommodation facilities, stores and public facilities, and the number of units connected to the cloud in Japan currently exceeds 10,000. The service is also being introduced to local governments throughout Japan, with more than 80 of the approximately 1,750 local governments having adopted the service.

This investment is purposed to support the expansion of RemoteLock's SaaS business, ensure the stable continuation of RemoteLock's business in Japan and further strengthen the relationship as partners by improving and enhancing cloud function through Japan-US collaboration. As the primary investor of RemoteLock, KKE will strive to improve the usability, comfortability, and efficiency for building managers and residents by utilizing IoT technology that corresponds to changing industry and consumer needs.

* RemoteLock changed its name from LockState in July 2022.
